Principal’s Journal Message (Elementary)

Dear Lavelle Prep Elementary Families and Students,

The staff of Lavelle Prep Elementary School would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all returning families. Additionally, we are looking forward to working with the new parents and students entering Lavelle Prep Elementary in the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. As 2016-2017 was our inaugural year and at times we were met with challenges, we were met with many learning opportunities and challenges for students and staff alike. We learned from the challenges from last year and will continue to move forward in a positive direction.

This year, our elementary school has expanded from 9 to 12 classes. In the upcoming school year Lavelle Prep Elementary School will encompass three – 3rd grade classes, four

4th grade classes and five 5th grade classes. We will be adding two new portable buildings which should be up and running by November 2017. In the interim three of the 5th grade classes will be housed in the main building (Corporate Commons One).

We are excited about many new strategies that will be in place, including the implementation of a new positive behavior plan for all students, a Student Point Store to encourage positive learning behaviors, and a new Student Elective Activity Reward Program. We are also eager to build upon our Sanford Harmony Program which is a curriculum that consists of a series of innovative relationship building teaching strategies designed to strengthen classroom communities, where teaching takes priority over resolving personal conflicts or issues among students. This incentive program rewards students for becoming involved in their school, achieving academic goals, as well as displaying good citizenship.

Finally, our Lavelle Prep Parent Involvement Program will grow with more opportunities for parents to act as partners in their child’s education and by initiating more parent meetings and community involvement. We look forward to working collaboratively with you in an effort to provide a quality education for all of the students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sincerely,

Anthony Faiella
