A Message to Elementary Students and Families

April 6, 2020

Dear Lavelle Elementary Families,

Firstly, I want to personally thank all  students, parents, and teachers for all of their hard work and ability to adapt to a very new situation during a trying time. We have completed two successful weeks of distance learning. While we are still learning and improving every day, we have seen some amazing efforts from all of you.

We recognize how hard the transition has been over the  past few weeks and we want to take this opportunity to give our students, teachers and families time to catch up, both academically and emotionally.  During the week of April 9 to April 17 we will be offering all students an Academic Recovery and Enrichment Program. Students will have the time to independently complete missed or incomplete  assignments, while also working on iReady Reading to continue their progress toward academic goals. Teachers will be reaching out to families and students this week with a list of assignments each child is missing or with additional work your child should complete during this time.

Our teachers will be taking time to be with their families  and refresh from the stresses of the current situation; therefore; live sessions and office hours will be limited during this week. Teacher availability will be posted on their Google Classroom and communicated through ClassDoJo. Please know, we are all here for you. Stay well. Be healthy. Our counseling team will be available throughout the week for any emergencies. Please reach them at the following Google phone numbers:

Nadine Somma; Elementary Counselor – 732-771-9714

Shannon Crisalli; Elementary Counselor – 929-265-7450

Now  more than ever, we are thankful to our teachers, first responders, health care workers, and all those who are working tirelessly to keep our lives as normal as possible. We ask that you continue to practice safe and smart social distancing.
