A Message to Middle School Students and Families

April 6, 2020

Dear Lavelle Prep Middle School Families,

Firstly, I want to personally thank all students, parents, and teachers for their hard work and ability to adapt to a very new situation during a trying time. We have completed two successful weeks of distance learning. While we are still learning and improving every day, we have seen some amazing efforts from all of you.

We recognize how hard the transition has been over the  past few weeks and we want to take this opportunity to give our students, teachers and families time to catch up, both academically and emotionally.  During the week of April 9th to April 17th, we will be offering all students an Academic Recovery and Enrichment Program. Students will have the time to independently complete missed or incomplete  assignments while also working on iReady Reading and Imagine Math to continue their progress toward academic goals. Teachers will be reaching out to families and students this week with a list of assignments each child is missing or with additional work your child should complete during this time.

To keep our students organized and focused we have created the schedule below:

Academic Recovery and Enrichment Program Schedule

Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10- No Distance Learning

 Monday, April 13- Math Day

Tuesday, April 14- ELA Day

Wednesday, April 15- Science Day

Thursday, April 16- Social Studies Day

Friday, April 17- No Distance Learning

Our teachers will be taking time to be with their families and refresh from the stresses of the current situation; therefore, live sessions and office hours will be limited during this week. Teacher availability will be posted on their Google Classroom and communicated through ClassDoJo. Students can check in with their teachers to receive additional support or have questions answered based on the subject day and each teacher’s live session hours.

Please know that we are all here for you. Stay well. Be healthy. Our counseling team will be available throughout the week for any emergencies. Please reach them at the following Google phone numbers:

Lori Faicco (6th grade Counselor) -732-927-1296

George Torres (7th grade Counselor) – 732-896-0213

Max Moran (8th grade Counselor) – 732-896-0213

Now more than ever, we are thankful for our teachers, first responders, health care workers, and all those who are working tirelessly to keep our lives as normal as possible. We ask that you continue to practice safe and smart social distancing.
