ICS Marches In 9th Annual Staten Island Black Heritage Day Parade

ICS was proud to support the 9th Annual Staten Island Black Heritage Day Parade on Saturday, September 21st at Tappen Park in Stapleton.

Students and staff from Lavelle Prep, New Ventures, and Nicotra joined forces along with their families to support this incredible event.

Lavelle Prep Elementary teacher Catherine Baez, Principal Tony Faiella, Congressman Max Rose, music teacher Jessica Bruschi, and two students enjoy the parade together.

Afterward, attendees enjoyed the “We Are Family Festival,” which featured food, vendors, and music.

The parade was first started back in 2011 by community organizers and has continued to grow each year.

This year’s parade and celebration also featured honorees, Moses (Holy Moe) Dayee, Staten Island NAACP – Youth Council, Debbie Anne Paige, and Mark McGhee.

Staff and students also enjoyed spending time conversing with Congressman Max Rose, Councilwoman Debi Rose, and District Attorney Michael McMahon.

We were proud to be among the thousands of participants, and it was a wonderful day that was enjoyed by all!
