IMPORTANT: A Message from the Principal: Middle School

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Lavelle Prep will be closed for students beginning, March 16th until at least April 20th. We realize that these measures are disruptive and stressful for our families and students. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition from our normal operations to distance learning. We will be executing our distance learning plan by using Google Classroom, along with online programs that your child has had experience with such as iReady and ImagineMath. Be sure to accept all invites to Google Classroom and Class Dojo to ensure you are receiving updates and information about your child from his/her teacher. As we move to a distance learning model, we will continue to provide supports and Specially Designed Instruction for all students including our students with disabilities and 504s to the greatest extent possible.

Attendance and participation in our distance learning program is extremely important. Student attendance and grades will be based on student participation; along with completion and performance on all assignments. Students should be logging onto Google Classroom daily to access their assignments for the day. Teachers will be available from 9:00 am -2:00 pm through ClassDoJo and email to answer any questions you or your child may have. If your child needs specific tutoring, live tutoring chats will also be available with teachers.

The schedule for live teacher support is:

Math support: 9-10 am

English Language Arts support: 10-11 am

Science support: 11-12 pm

Social Studies support: 12-1 pm

Counseling Availability

During this stressful and uncertain time, our ICS counseling department will be available to all students and families for any immediate needs, questions and concerns from 8 am to 4 pm daily, Monday through Friday.

In the event of a crisis or mental health concern with your child, you can reach out to your designated grade counselor between the hours listed above. If your child is experiencing any high-risk behaviors or is a danger to themselves or others, please call 911 or go directly to your nearest emergency room.

Additionally, our school counselors will be contacting those families whose children have been receiving on-going counseling services to set up remote sessions. If you haven’t been contacted and feel you have a need, please reach out to your grade counselor to set up services.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us via ClassDojo or email. We are all here to help our students succeed this school year!

Please refer to our school website and social media accounts for schoolwide announcements and important staff and contact information.

Thank you for your continued support,

Kristina Mazza
